Laura and Vanessa have been best friends for almost twenty years! They have gone through many experiences together during those years. They have been there for each other through successes, heartbreaks, marriages, and children; their bond has always been strong, even when they have lived miles away. I struggled with my weight my entire life. I was always going on crazy diets since I was a teenager to lose weight. I found shopping for clothes so horrifying; always wrestling into clothes. After three pregnancies, I was unhappy with my body, which often collided with my intimate life. I knew I didn't want this to affect my marriage and looked into getting plastic surgery. I had a few consultations and finally found the perfect doctor for me. He told me exactly what I needed to design my dream body and mentioned a tummy tuck. I admit I was frightened because I knew that is an extensive surgery and how invasive it would be. However, my doctor was extremely reassuring and made me feel comfortable. I couldn't believe this was happening; I was finally going to feel confident in my skin. My husband was very supportive, even though he didn't think I needed it, and he loved me the way I was. But I wasn't doing it for him; I was doing it for myself. When performing liposuction, doctors are only allowed to remove a certain amount of fat, and I wanted to get the best results, so I began to lose as much weight as possible. I put in the work, and the day came. The doctor and his crew were all very kind and helpful.
Once out of surgery, I was in awful pain, and the nurse was more than willing to give me pain medication to make me comfortable. Due to the pandemic, I had an overnight nurse who was extremely helpful. She helped me remove my garment so I could shower and helped me put it back on. I had my lymphatic massages scheduled perfectly, and she was also accommodating and dear. Nearly three months, and I was almost back to my usual self. It was an arduous process, and what needed a great deal of patience, I am now living my best life! I have never felt this confident and don't struggle in the dressing room!
Having Vanessa as my journal through this process, seeing the results, and how happy I was convinced her to change her life as I did. I wanted my best friend to feel what I feel, and seeing her excitement every step of the way, has made me the happiest I ever thought I would be. Helping her, watching her flourish and be her best self, has fulfilled me extraordinarily. I want to do the same for everyone willing to hold my hand and get through this together.

Vanessa's Journey
I have been overweight for as long as I can remember. I have struggled with eating disorders since I was a child. However, I had learned to live with it and didn't allow my weight to be an obstacle to being who I am. I always told myself, " I am who I am, and I am happy with the way I look; people still love me for me." And that was partially true, people did love me for who I was and how I looked, but I didn't. Only those of us who have been in that horrible cycle of depression and eating disorders, where you eat because you are depressed, but you are depressed because you are fat, know about the lonely hell I am talking about. I lived there for most of my life.

At 24, I reached my heaviest weight, 250 lbs. I had asthma, smoked, drank, and didn't take care of my body. Finally, I had reached rock bottom, and a health scare got me out of it. Ultimately, I got a personal trainer and lost weight through a low carb and CICO deficit diet. It took me about three years to lose weight about 100 lbs.

I married the love of my life and had two children with him, the best things in my life. However, staying motivated and maintaining a healthy weight after my pregnancies has been challenging. That changed in 2020 when the world changed, I lost a loved one, and I had another wake-up call to get my body and self-esteem together again. I was there for Laura throughout her plastic surgery journey, and she motivated and coached me through mine. It took me two years to lose 30 lbs and save the money to make my journey happen. The pain was excruciating and challenging, more painful than childbirth. But I look at the results daily: my body, soul, marriage, and mental and physical health. For me, this journey was worth every penny and tear! I promise you; it will be for you too.
