What Is an Inlay?

A dental inlay is a pre-molded filling fitted into the grooves of your tooth. It's most often used as restoration for cavities (also known as dental caries) that are centered in your tooth instead of along the outer edges or "cusps." These cavities have usually not progressed into more extensive tooth decay.

What Are Dental Onlays?

Onlays fit over your tooth's biting surface and are made of a solid piece of porcelain, composite, resin, or gold. This type of restoration is used to fix a tooth that has been damaged by decay or injury. Onlays are similar to inlays but differ in the amount of your tooth they cover. Onlays go over the cusp (or cusps) of your tooth, whereas inlays fill the space between your cusps.

What Are Dental Filling?

A filling is a treatment for tooth damage by decay that restores it back to its normal function and shape while preventing further decay. It's also one of the most common procedures in the dental office.

What's the Cost?

The average cost in the United States for Inlays is $350 to $1,500, and for Onlays, between $550 and $2,000, per tooth. In Colombia, the procedure is 30-50% less.
